Private 1:1 Once-off Pottery Class

Join us for a private one-on-one beginners hand-building Pottery Class.
Pottery is a very soothing activity as it allows us to reconnect with our mind and body. It awakens our creativity and helps us to stay present and in the moment. You will leave feeling relaxed, calm and at peace.
Types of occasions: Anniversary gift, birthday gift, quality time with your partner, children or friends.
WHAT IT INCLUDES:
- 1.5 - 3.5 hour fully guided, step-by-step session on basic hand building techniques
- All the clay for the session
- Making 2-3 ceramic pieces
- Glazing in a colour of your choice from our glaze selection
- 2 x Firings
- All pottery tools, decorating tools, equipment and aprons to use on the day
WHO CAN ATTEND:
- All experience levels welcome, but no pottery experience is required.
- Children from 7-12 years
ABOUT THE CLASS:
During this once off class you will learn how to make your own ceramics from clay. We will show you how to assemble your piece, followed by how to sculpt and attach clay to your ceramics to give them character. Pottery tools will be provided and we will guide you on choosing the best tool to use as well as using your fingers and hands to sculpt your pieces. During this process you will learn how to manipulate the clay in order to create your desired piece. Once you are done with your pieces, you will have the option to choose your glazes for your pieces from our glaze selection. We will then fire your pieces, once they are dry, and glaze them for you. At the end of the class, you will have a deeper love and appreciation for pottery, and you will walk away feeling relaxed and restored after disconnecting and being creative.
The class can be hosted from either our Home Studio in Sandown or our Working Studio in Waterfall, Midrand.
Date & Time: We have availability on Saturdays after 2pm and Sundays morning and afternoon sessions. Please let us know which date and time you would like to have the private pottery class under "SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS" during checkout.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE WORKSHOP:
Pinterest is a great place to get inspiration for your pieces. You can simply just bring some inspiration pics on your phone.
COLLECTION/DELIVERY:
- After you complete your ceramics at the workshop, we will fire and glaze them for you.
- They will be completed after 4-5 weeks and we will contact you to let you know when they are ready.
- You can either arrange to collect your ceramics from us or have them delivered to you via courier, both options are available on check out.
T’s & C's:
- Tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend the workshop, please let us know ASAP. You will be able to transfer your ticket to another party.
- T&C Ceramics reserves the right to cancel or postpone the workshop after which a refund can be requested should both parties agree.
- Tickets are virtual and you will not receive a physical copy. Proof of your purchase will be required upon arrival at the workshop on the day.
- We will try our utmost to ensure the success of your finished pots. Clay is, however, a complicated material and sometimes things can go wrong which is out of our control. Should anything happen to your pot during the process, we will let you know. We will not be held responsible should your ceramics crack or break during firing.

Quick Overview
Our pieces are handmade from white earthenware clay.
Our dome shaped sugar pot has a miniature fat cat detail as the handle and is glazed with a speckled egg glaze. Our sugar pots are inspired by our fat kitty Bela.
Due to the handmade nature of our products, there will naturally be some variations in shape and glaze patterns. Each miniature cat is hand sculpted and painted; as a result no two items will be the same and your sugar pot may differ slightly from the image.

Wax Burner
Quick Overview
All our pieces are handmade from white earthenware clay. The wax burner has a dome shaped opening to place the tea light as well as a breath hole in the back to ensure that candle has sufficient oxygen to burn. Each wax burner is hand-formed and is glazed with the speckled egg glaze.
Due to the handmade nature of our products, there will naturally be some variations in shape and glaze patterns. No two items are the same and your tumbler may differ slightly from the image.

Custom Dog Teaspoon Rest
Quick Overview
If you love your fur baby as much as we do ours then you will love having a keep sake of them to last a life time.
Each miniature dog is sculpted by hand and placed on top of a teaspoon rest. The miniature dog is then painted to the colouring of your fur baby and finally the teaspoon rest is glazed with our cream speckled egg glaze.
Available options - one dog or two dogs
Size - Approx. diameter 9.5cm x height 10cm
Care Instructions - Hand wash only
Note: Once the order has been placed we will contact you to find out more about your fur baby. Please provide us with clear photos, preferably from different angles to show all the coat markings on their body. If you would like your fur baby captured in a specific position, please let us know and we will do our best to sculpt them in that way.
The lead-time for the order is 4-6 weeks.
Please note that the sculpture will not look exactly like your fur baby. We like to think of it as more of a representation of the animals spirit and soul.
Children's Parties
Quick Overview
Allow your kids to get creative with clay during a fully guided pottery session.
We will be teaching them how to create their very own ceramics from clay. The workshop can take place from the comfort of your own home or venue of your choice.
WHAT IT INCLUDES:
- 1.5 hour fully guided, step-by-step session on basic hand building techniques
- All the clay for the session
- Making 1 ceramic piece
- Painting and decorating their pottery piece
- Glazing in a shiny transparent glaze
- 2 x Firings
- All pottery tools, decorating tools, equipment and aprons to use on the day
- A beautifully curated gift bag with local goodies
- Note: Travel is charged separately based on your desired location.
WHO CAN ATTEND:
- Children from the age of 6 years old
- Maximum of 15 children per party
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
During the workshop we will teach the kids how to make their own ceramics from clay. We will show them how to assemble and attach pieces to their pottery to create something they love. Thereafter, they will have an opportunity to paint and decorate their pottery with special ceramic paints. Once they are done, we take the ceramics to our studio where it will be fired and glazed.
This is a great opportunity for kids to learn a new craft and a chance for them to explore their creativity through clay.
